Jeff Landry urging him to back down from his request that LSU bring its live tiger mascot to football games. Mike VII, an 8-year-old tiger that became LSU’s official mascot in 2017, has never attended a football game. His predecessor Mike VI reportedly showed adverse reactions to visual and sound stimuli from pregame activities and resisted getting into his trailer for game appearances. $20 billion deal: Verizon said on Thursday it would buy Frontier Communications in an all-cash deal worth $20 billion, as the U.S. wireless carrier looks to expand its fiber network. Holding steady: U.S. services sector activity was steady in August, but employment gains slowed, consistent with an easing labor market.
