Near lowest level of the year: The average rate on a 30-year U.S. mortgage fell again this week, slipping close to its low point so far this year. The decline brings the average long-term mortgage rate to 6.19% from 6.23% last week, mortgage buyer Freddie Mac said Thursday. A year ago, the rate averaged 6.69%. Modernizing: Boudreaux’s Jewelers will invest $4 million to expand and modernize its flagship Mandeville store, doubling its footprint and adding one of Louisiana’s largest on-site jewelry manufacturing studios. Grand opening: Bally’s Baton Rouge Casino entertainment complex will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday with a grand opening extravaganza. The opening marks the completion of Bally’s $141 million investment into downtown Baton Rouge. The complex features 25,000 square feet of Vegas-style gaming and a DraftKings sportsbook.
