Rolling out the red carpet: LSU and Florida both seem to be attempting to whisk Lane Kiffin away from Ole Miss, and the Tigers upped the ante Monday by sending a private plane to Oxford, Mississippi, to pick up the Kiffin family and give them a tour of Baton Rouge. A Kiffin family member also visited Gainesville, Florida, on Sunday. Ole Miss has reportedly given Kiffin an “ultimatum,” telling him he must decide on his future with the university by the Nov. 28 Egg Bowl game. Read more from CBS Sports.
A worrying finding: A report released Monday found that rural areas will continue to have only about two-thirds of the primary care physicians they need for at least the next dozen years. About 43 million people live in rural areas without enough primary care physicians, and 92% of rural counties are considered “primary care professional shortage areas,” compared to 83% of nonrural counties. Forty-five percent of rural counties had five or fewer primary care physicians in 2023, and about 200 rural counties lacked such a doctor altogether. Read more from Stateline.
Tour stop: “Weird Al” Yankovic, the comedian known for his parodies of chart-topping hits, is coming to Baton Rouge. The Red Stick is one of 90 stops on his 2026 Bigger & Weirder tour. He’ll perform at the Raising Cane’s River Center on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. Learn more here.
