    Powell’s thoughts: Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell says longer-term inflation expectations appear to be in check but that the central bank is carefully monitoring impacts from the war in the Middle East.     Under scrutiny: The advanced systems that allow drivers to take their hands off the wheel while going down the road will be scrutinized again by federal investigators on Tuesday in connection with two fatal crashes involving Ford’s Blue Cruise system. The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to recommend ways to improve these partially automated driving systems as it wraps up its investigation into the 2024 crashes in Texas and Pennsylvania that killed three people when Ford Mustang Mach-E cars slammed into vehicles that were stopped.     Funding available: The Baton Rouge Area Foundation, in collaboration with the Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation and the Foundation for East Baton Rouge Parish School System, announced on Tuesday that more than $1.1 million will be available for families accessing early childhood education across the East Baton Rouge Parish School System for the 2026-27 school year. The fundraising effort is expected to help more than 100 local families afford high-quality access to early childhood education and care.
