    BRYC: On Aug. 19, Baton Rouge Youth Coalition welcomed over 550 fellows to its fall programs—53% more than last year and the coalition’s largest class to date. BRYC’s 2024–2025 cohort represents more than 70 schools in nine parishes, and 70% of the new fellows are East Baton Rouge Parish School System students.

    Job cuts: Shell plans to scale back its oil and gas exploration and development workforce by 20%. The move comes as CEO Wael Sawan widens his cost-saving drive to the highly profitable division after similar cuts in low-carbon businesses and renewables.
