Bankruptcy: Tupperware Brands, the iconic food-storage company known for its resealable plastic containers and pioneering direct-to-consumer sales, has filed for bankruptcy after years of struggling with weak sales. Tupperware and certain subsidiaries have voluntarily initiated Chapter 11 proceedings and will start a process to sell the business and its brand out of bankruptcy. Lone dissenter: Michelle Bowman on Wednesday became the first Federal Reserve governor to vote against an interest rate decision by the U.S. central bank since 2005, denying Fed Chair Jerome Powell a clear consensus at a pivotal moment. The Fed’s other 11 voting members all cast their ballots in support of reducing the Fed’s policy rate by half a percentage point. Bowman, the Fed said, preferred a quarter-point rate cut.
