Permanently closed: The Arby’s along Burbank Drive has closed its doors. A sign taped to the window reads that the restaurant, which opened in 2023, has permanently closed and advises customers to visit the Denham Springs location. $12B bailout: The Trump administration is expected to announce $12 billion in aid to U.S. farmers hurt by tariffs, including $11 billion in one-time payments through the Farmer Bridge Assistance program. Soybean farmers, hit hard by China halting imports earlier this year, are expected to benefit. Farm bankruptcies rose about 60% in early 2025 amid low crop prices. New clinic: Baton Rouge General has opened the BRG Weight Loss Center on Bluebonnet Boulevard to expand its physician-led services for patients with obesity-related conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. The center offers GLP-1 therapies, nutrition planning and chronic disease management, complementing BRG’s bariatric and nonsurgical programs.
