Emeril’s Chop House puts a Louisiana spin on the classic steakhouse

Emeril’s Chop House, a new signature restaurant from famed chef Emeril Lagasse, is set to open Thursday at L’Auberge Casino Hotel in Baton Rouge, 225 reports.

The 175-seat restaurant replaces 18 Steak and marks Lagasse’s first restaurant in Baton Rouge, bringing a menu that blends Louisiana flavors with elevated steakhouse offerings. Dishes include Emeril’s BBQ shrimp, Gulf fish amandine, chicken and andouille gumbo, caviar deviled eggs, a Chop House Wagyu burger, Maine lobster tail and a selection of steaks and chops. The restaurant also will offer desserts such as Emeril’s banana cream pie and a peanut butter mousse pie, along with an extensive wine and cocktail program. A Saturday and Sunday brunch is in the works.

The opening follows months of renovations that added more bar seating, a cocktail lounge, private dining space and an outdoor deck overlooking the Mississippi River. Local diners got an early taste of the concept at the Baton Rouge Epicurean Society’s Fête Rouge, where the restaurant placed second in the seafood category for its Louisiana yellowfin tuna dish.

Lagasse says the concept was developed specifically for L’Auberge, combining elements of his other restaurants while creating a more casual, lively atmosphere. The restaurant’s culinary team trained with Lagasse’s teams in New Orleans and Las Vegas, while L’Auberge Chef de Cuisine Brendan Rufty will lead the restaurant’s culinary team under the direction of Executive Chef Jared Tees. Reservations are available online.
