What simple changes can improve children’s health?

Children do well with routines and boundaries. Pick a few simple rules your family can stick with, such as trying one bite of a vegetable at dinner, keeping sugary drinks out of the house, or making bedrooms screen-free. You don’t have to change everything at once. Small, consistent habits can make a difference over time.

How can families help kids move more?

Make movement part of your family’s everyday routine. Walk the dog together, have a family dance party while cleaning up, or do jumping jacks during commercial breaks. It doesn’t have to feel like exercise. Help your child find activities they enjoy, such as swimming, biking, dancing, or hiking, so movement becomes something they want to continue as they grow.

How can communities support healthier families?

Healthy choices are easier when our communities make them easier to make. We can create neighborhoods where families feel comfortable walking and biking, and we can encourage stores and restaurants to offer healthier choices. Employers can also model healthy behaviors and support family wellbeing. When parents, schools, businesses, and community leaders work together, healthy choices become more accessible for everyone.
