— ESTABLISHED 1996—
LandSource, Inc. is a Baton Rouge-based land surveying firm founded in 1996 as a spinoff of CSRS. Led by President Scott Patterson and Chief Operations Officer David Patterson, the company has grown from a commercial surveying practice into a full-service firm serving commercial, municipal development and industrial clients throughout the state.

BORN AND RAISED, THEN AND NOW
“I have spent more than 60 years in Baton Rouge and Scott was born and raised here,” David Patterson says. “While we both have deep roots in northwest Florida, we never considered starting LandSource anywhere other than Baton Rouge. Scott and I both found our wives here, raised our families in Baton Rouge and are LSU grads. We can’t imagine living or working anywhere else. In our 30 years of surveying, we never once regretted our decision to start our business in Baton Rouge.”
HARD WORK, GOOD COMMUNICATION
“We can’t credit any one thing for LandSource’s longevity but, for us, the formula has been hard work and communication. Fortunately, it didn’t take us 30 years to figure this out. Soon after starting LandSource, we discovered that giving our clients excellent service for a reasonable fee and keeping the lines of communication open would be crucial to our success. Thirty years in the business have shown us that hard work and good communication leads to lasting relationships with some great clients.”
FROM TRANSIT TO DRONES
“Technology in surveying changes quickly. When I first started in surveying everything was done with a transit and steel tape. Technology has reshaped the industry. In the early 1990s we purchased our first robotic total station, and in 1997 we purchased our first GPS unit. A couple of years ago, we purchased top-of-theline utility locating equipment for subsurface utility mapping and, most recently, we purchased our first survey-grade drone. Current drone technology utilizes artificial intelligence which has led to autonomous navigation and advanced sensors that have made drones safer and more versatile. The onboard LIDAR, infrared and ultra high-resolution cameras have expanded their capabilities and we believe that the technology will continue to advance.”

AS CLIENT NEEDS CHANGE, THE BUSINESS EVOLVES
“We started LandSource with a focus on commercial and development surveying. We also positioned ourselves to be the surveyor for area civil engineering firms that don’t have a surveying component. This approach has served us well but client needs led us to expand our services to include work in the municipal and industrial sectors. Our work is now pretty evenly divided amongst all four sectors. We are excited about having added subsurface utility mapping and drone services and are committed to adapting to new technology as it develops.”
PUTTING OUR EXPERTISE TO WORK FOR ST. JUDE
“For over 15 years, we have volunteered our surveying expertise for the St. Jude Home here in Baton Rouge. Scott and I both have friends and family members who have benefited from the generosity of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, so this is close to our hearts.”
OUR 30-YEAR LEGACY: Technology has changed but our commitment to honesty, integrity and quality work has not.
