Roundup: Campaign cash for cars / Ochsner awarded / LRA expo

    Cash for cars: With election day approaching, reporters at KSLA-TV in Shreveport combed through recent campaign finance reports of every Louisiana state senator and representative and found that three senators and one representative are using campaign cash to lease cars. One lawmaker even pays more than $1,000 a month. Though legal, it’s raising eyebrows. Read the full report. 

    Rankings: Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans was ranked No. 1 in Louisiana for the eighth year in a row and recognized among top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge was No. 3 in the state. For the 2019-20 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide based on specialties, procedures and hospital conditions. See the rankings. 

    Industry know-how: The Louisiana Restaurant Association’s annual expo will take place this weekend at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. The event is open to foodservice industry professionals from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Exhibiting companies will be featuring a wide range of industry-focused products and services, 50 new exhibiting companies this year.
