    Louisiana Blue Foundation announces Angel Award honorees

    The Louisiana Blue Foundation has announced eight 2026 Angel Award honorees, recognizing Louisianians who have made a significant difference in the health and well-being of children. Each honoree will select a local nonprofit to receive a $30,000 grant.

    Here is the list of honorees:

    • Julia Bourgeois (Sulphur): Advocates for children with disabilities through inclusive education and activities
    • Tara Detiveaux (Houma): Supports children and families in an underserved community through Hope Extreme
    • Toccara Huckaby (Shreveport): Empowers girls through STEM, leadership and entrepreneurship programs
    • Terrence Jones (Lafayette): Provides scholarships, mentorship and workforce opportunities through Believe Institute
    • Kristen Powers (Shreveport): Expands services and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
    • Melanie Richardson (New Orleans): Helps families access early intervention, developmental screenings and resources
    • Jordan Tabor (Baton Rouge): Promotes youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention education through the Rain Will Bring Flowers Foundation
    • Joey Vining (Houma): Works to prevent childhood drownings through water-safety education, swim lessons and life jackets

    The Foundation also named Desiree Robertson of St. Gabriel its 2026 Blue Angel, recognizing her volunteer work mentoring and supporting local children through the Family First Youth Initiative.

    The honorees will be celebrated at a ceremony on Monday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m., with a livestream available on the Louisiana Blue Foundation’s Facebook page.
