Ascension Parish tourism is positioning the parish as an affordable alternative to Baton Rouge and New Orleans while capitalizing on its location between Louisiana’s two largest cities.
Tracy Browning, president and CEO of the Ascension Parish Tourism Commission, says the parish markets itself as “Louisiana’s Sweet Spot,” a brand reflecting both its sugar cane heritage and its location along Interstate 10 between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
In a recent interview with Ascension Business Report, Browning discussed how Ascension benefits from major events in Baton Rouge, including LSU football games and Mardi Gras. The commission markets the parish’s hotels to visitors seeking more economical accommodations with convenient access to those events.
Browning also highlighted Houmas House and Gardens, which attracts more than 60,000 visitors annually, as well as Cajun Village and other attractions that help drive tourism spending throughout Ascension.
