If you’re worried about someone, focus on how they’re doing, not how they look. Eating disorders don’t always have obvious physical signs, and comments about weight can do more harm than good. Instead, pay attention to changes in behavior, like avoiding meals, becoming anxious around food, withdrawing from others, or talking constantly about calories or body image. Keep the conversation private and simple: “I’ve noticed you don’t seem like yourself lately. How are you doing?” You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes, letting someone know they’re seen, supported, and not alone is the first step toward getting help.
