Bullseye: Axe throwing coming to Baton Rouge

Watch your back—plans are in the works for a new axe throwing business to open its doors on Government Street.

The out-of-state company operates nearly a dozen axe throwing businesses across the Southeast, says Will Chadwick, retail specialist for Elifin Realty who’s handling leasing for the business. Chadwick declines to name the company or identify where on Government Street the new entertainment venture will open because the company plans to make its own announcement, but he says they expect to open this fall.

This will be the first Louisiana location for the company, Chadwick says, adding they initially wanted to be closer to the LSU campus but were eventually drawn to the Mid City are due to its recent growth and the revitalization of Government Street.

“With their business model, they like to be near restaurants and bars so customers can make a night out of it,” Chadwick says.

Government Street has seen a flurry of new businesses open the last few years and multiple additional projects are underway. Joshua Duke, co-owner of Olive or Twist, is working on opening an “upscale” cocktail bar nextdoor to Elsie’s Plate and Pie, and plans are underway for the Taylor Clark Gallery to be turned into a new restaurant.
