AI parking is coming to the Baton Rouge airport

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is rolling out new AI-enabled parking technology early December through a partnership with Los Angeles–based Metropolis, marking the first installation of its kind at a Louisiana airport.

The system—going online Dec. 3— will manage roughly 2,000 spaces across BTR’s short-term garage and economy lots, offering checkout-free, drive-in/drive-out access designed to speed up parking and eliminate paper tickets.

Metropolis, which operates mobility and baggage services at more than 80 U.S. airports—including San Francisco, Chicago O’Hare and San Antonio—uses computer-vision technology to automate payment as drivers enter and exit. BTR is the eighth site in Baton Rouge to adopt the platform.

Airport Director Mike Edwards says the upgrade aligns with BTR’s push for more “convenient, stress-free travel experiences.” Metropolis co-founder and CEO Alex Israel says the partnership aims to cut wait times and streamline trips for passengers heading to or from BTR’s five nonstop airline hubs.

Travelers can pre-enroll through the Metropolis app or BTR’s website.
