Three-day reprieve: President Donald Trump paused new 50% tariffs on certain Canadian goods for three days as U.S. and Canadian negotiators work toward a deal. Trump linked the pause to progress on trade issues and revived discussion of the Keystone XL pipeline, while Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said negotiations had made substantial progress but still had work remaining. Melanoma treatment advance: An experimental Moderna personalized cancer vaccine combined with Keytruda met key goals in a phase three trial involving more than 1,100 high-risk melanoma patients. The treatment significantly extended the time patients lived without their cancer returning and reduced the risk of the cancer spreading to distant parts of the body, with side effects similar to typical vaccines. The companies will continue evaluating overall survival and plan to discuss the results with regulators, while also testing the personalized vaccine approach in other cancers.
