Walters joins DSG as partner after nearly 30 years in government relations and public affairs, including roles with LSU and Chevron, joining partner Andree T. Building trade skills: Baton Rouge Community College opened its new Capital City Construction Lab, a hands-on training facility for students pursuing skilled-trade careers. Funded in part by an $850,000 Lowe’s Foundation grant, the lab offers training in carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, plumbing and construction management. New horizons: United Airlines plans to add several new international destinations next year, including Ljubljana, Slovenia; Okinawa, Japan; and Osaka, Japan; while maintaining its existing international routes. The airline says demand for less-crowded destinations and longer international travel seasons has helped drive its expansion, with 49 new destinations added since 2021. United also expects to benefit from travelers taking open-jaw trips—where passengers fly into one city and return from another—and plans to compete with other U.S. carriers as international travel remains a focus.
