Knock Knock executive director stepping down

Peter Olson, executive director of Knock Knock Children’s Museum, will be leaving his position on Sept. 30 to pursue a career consulting in children’s museum planning, the museum announced today.

During his two-year tenure at Knock Knock, Olson led the opening of the museum which celebrated its first birthday in August. In its first year, the children’s museum welcomed 218,000 visitors on-site, making Knock Knock the most visited attraction in Baton Rouge with visitors coming from 60 of the state’s 64 parishes as well as 48 states and 10 countries.

“This is bittersweet since Peter led Knock Knock to our recent first birthday success and has been a wonderful asset over the last two years,” says Cate Heroman, chairwoman of the Knock Knock board and advisory council, in an email.

Heroman goes on to say Knock Knock’s board has selected current staff member Genny Nadler Thomas to serve as acting executive director in the coming months while a national search is underway to identify Olson’s successor.
