The Junior League of Baton Rouge is reimagining one of the city’s longest-running fundraising traditions, announcing plans to transform Hollydays into a one-night event with a revamped shopping model.
For more than 40 years, Hollydays has served as a major driver of funding for community projects across Baton Rouge, but as the organization writes, rising costs and shifting consumer habits have prompted the organization to move away from its traditional multiday market format, which has previously been held at the Raising Cane’s River Center. The Junior League cites a 30% increase in venue rental fees along with a broader shift toward online shopping as key factors behind the decision.
Under the new format, Hollydays will center around a single evening celebration featuring live music, tastings, raffle drawings and grant presentations. A new Hollydays Shopping Card will anchor the updated retail component, allowing participants to support local businesses beyond the event itself.
The organization’s leaders say the changes are designed to ensure the fundraiser’s long-term sustainability while preserving its community impact. Additional details are expected later this summer, with the event scheduled for October.
