Half Shell Oyster House is planning to open a Baton Rouge location in a new shopping center planned near Perkins Rowe.
The restaurant, which specializes in Gulf seafood with a New Orleans flare, is the first committed tenant in the shopping development and will be located in an outparcel, says Florida developer Steve Noyola. Construction is expected to begin by Nov. 1.
The rest of the development, including a second outparcel, will be built as tenants are confirmed, according to Noyola, who estimates the shopping center will have three to five tenants and called the area “a great location.”
“It’s one of the last larger undeveloped tracts near the intersection of Bluebonnet and Perkins,” says Noyola.
Half Shell Oyster House has expanded along the Gulf Coast since opening its original restaurant in Gulfport in 2009. It opened its first Louisiana location in 2016 in Lafayette and added a second in Covington just last month. Other locations are in Biloxi, Flowood and Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Destin, Florida; and Mobile and Spanish Fort, Alabama.
A representative of Half Shell was unable to be reached before this afternoon’s deadline.
