Amazon is upping its data center commitment in northwest Louisiana by $6B

Amazon is expanding its planned investment in Northwest Louisiana from $12 billion to $18 billion by adding a third data center campus at Resilient Technology Park in Shreveport.

The additional $6 billion investment is expected to create 210 direct jobs, bringing the overall project to as many as 750 direct jobs across three campuses. Construction is also expected to support up to 2,250 jobs for local contractors, skilled tradespeople and suppliers.

Amazon and STACK Infrastructure say they will continue developing the campuses across Caddo and Bossier parishes while partnering with local schools and organizations on workforce development for careers such as electrical work, HVAC, engineering, networking, operations and security.

Amazon also plans to invest up to $400 million in public water infrastructure and fully fund the water, wastewater, energy and grid improvements needed for its facilities, with the goal of preventing costs from being passed on to existing utility customers. The company says its data centers will primarily use air cooling, using water for cooling when temperatures exceed approximately 85 degrees.

Since announcing the original project in February, Amazon says it has provided nearly $500,000 in grants to 46 local nonprofits, schools and community members.
