One Nuclear Energy, an independent developer of large-scale energy solutions powered by natural gas and advanced nuclear technologies, has executed a binding letter of intent with a prominent Louisiana landowner group, providing site control for the development of Project Cayman, which includes a 2.88-gigawatt natural gas plant, a battery energy storage system and a co-located high-capacity data center campus, Business Wire reports.
Located near RiverPlex MegaPark in Ascension Parish, Project Cayman is intended to support Louisiana’s expanding industrial and technology sectors. The initiative aligns with Entergy’s significant build-out of regional transmission infrastructure and would add dispatchable generation, energy storage and technology infrastructure near major new industrial loads and transmission investment, providing further regional grid reliability.
One Nuclear CEO Richard Taylor says the project demonstrates the company’s commitment to the economic development of the region and is expected to support new investment, create jobs, expand the local tax base and generate additional funding for community priorities and critical infrastructure.
Community outreach is already underway, with public information meetings involving local parishes, governmental agencies and other stakeholders expected from September through December 2026.
Project Cayman represents another step in One Nuclear’s development of scalable and technology-ready energy infrastructure designed to meet the growing power requirements of industrial and data-driven economies. Taylor also cites regional developments such as the SpaceX project and Hyundai’s planned $5.8 billion steel mill as examples of growing energy demand.
