Lafayette area avoids brown-outs

(From The Times-Picayune) As state and federal regulators gathered in Charleston, S.C., last Wednesday for a special meeting to discuss shortcomings in Entergy Corp.'s transmission system, record temperatures and demand for air conditioning threatened to send the Lafayette area into rolling brown-outs because the grid couldn't handle the necessary power load.
