Jindal says no plans for a special session

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

BATON ROUGE (AP) — After a 2008 packed with three legislative sessions, 2009 is on track to see lawmakers at the state Capitol quite a bit less.

Gov. Bobby Jindal said he doesn't anticipate calling a special legislative session before the regular session that starts at the end of April.

By contrast, Jindal called lawmakers to the Capitol for two special sessions after he took office last year, before the regular legislative session began in March. Lawmakers were in session for much of the first half of 2008.
