Monday -- Mayor Kip Holden and some of his top officials continue a "listening tour" of East Baton Rouge Parish with a 4 p.m. visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on Gus Young Avenue and a 6:30 p.m. stop at the Main Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. These are part of 12 meetings that Holden says will be used to get citizen input on future priorities for the parish.
Monday -- The Plan Baton Rouge Phase Two consultants will hold an public meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Louisiana State Museum. The consultant team, which is creating the master plan for the next stage of downtown development, will take questions and comments from the public. RSVPs are requested jstenhouse@c-pex.org.
Tuesday -- The Downtown Development District meets at 8 a.m. at the Louisiana State Welcome Center on River Road. Updates on the River Park mixed-use development, North Boulevard Town Square project, Plan Baton Rouge Phase Two, and the Redevelopment Authority are on the agenda.
Tuesday -- Mayor Kip Holden makes two more stops on his listening tour: 4 p.m. at the Central Branch Library on Joor Road, and 6:30 p.m. at the Delmont Community Center on Riley Street.
Tuesday -- The Baton Rouge Youth Coalition will hold "Youth Speak", a chance for students to make their voices heard in the current discussion involving the East Baton Rouge school system. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Little Theatre.
Wednesday -- Leads for Lunch, a Baton Rouge Area Chamber networking event, will be held at Carrabba’s Italian Grill from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. More information is available here.
Thursday -- The League of Women Voters of Baton Rouge will have its monthly "Lunch with the League" meeting at 11:30 a.m. at Drusilla Seafood. The topic is the Louisiana budget cuts. Commissioner of Administration Angele Davis has been invited to attend, along with Senate Revenue & Fiscal Affairs Committee Chairman Rob Marionneaux Jr., D-Grosse Tete and House Appropriations Committee Chairman Jim Fannin, D-Jonesboro. Thursday -- The American Cancer Society will hold a kick-off reception for the Amedisys Fore A Cure Corporate Golf Classic. The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Oak Lodge Conference and Reception Center. LSU women's basketball coach Van Chancellor will be the guest speaker. Thursday -- Forum 35's Cultural Diversity Committee will sponsor a discussion on "Erasing the Invisible Line" that divides Baton Rouge at 6 p.m. in the Lyceum Downtown. For more information, or to register for the event, click cultural35@gmail.com.
Feb. 19 -- The Baton Rouge Area Chamber will hold "BRAC Impact 2009: Results" at 6:30 p.m. at the Baton Rouge River Center. The event, hosted by Jamie Wax, will celebrate the region's accomplishments in 2008. For more information or tickets, call BRAC at 381-7125.
