Poll: Despite crime drop, people don't feel safer

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Eighty-one percent of respondents to a Daily Report poll say they don’t feel safer, despite a drop in the crime rate. Thirteen percent of readers say they do feel more secure and 6% were unsure. More than 1,100 people participated in the survey. City police say major crimes dropped 6.6% in 2008, including a decrease in the murder rate for the first time in five years.

Today's poll question: In light of the recent controversy involving Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps, do you think marijuana should be legalized?
