Tom Cook: Gonzales site sells

Tuesday, October 30, 2007

A small site at Airline Highway and La. 44 in Gonzales has been sold. A partnership represented by Collier Thornton and Chris Dozier of Thornton Harvison and Rhodes purchased the property from Tony Raffray of Gonzales on Thursday. The site is sandwiched between Rite Aid and CVS drug stores and is now occupied by Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The site sold for $475,000 and contained a total area of about 15,000 square feet, Thornton says. The price comes to more than $31 per square foot, but that looks like a bargain when you think about the Albertsons property directly across the street selling to Walgreens for almost $40 per square foot. The new owners intend to build to suit for an undisclosed national retailer. "This is an excellent location with a lot of retail potential," Thornton says. "So we jumped on it." Enterprise will move north on Airline to a larger site, but will continue to occupy its present location until the new facility is completed.
