Thomas Watson always knew he was going to start his own business.
“An inner desire to create homes with custom amenities as a standard product in place of spec homes that the Baton Rouge market had grown accustomed to” is the driving force in Watson’s decision to create Integrity Construction.
After surveying his own house and others, Watson decided there was a market for more affordable housing with “a custom feel” and floor plans with more efficient use of space, especially with cabinets and closets. He recognized an opportunity to apply his organizational skills and eye for detail to his work.
“I felt that homes of all sizes and prices should enjoy these same amenities,” he says. “Our name is not just a catch phrase, it truly stands for how we view what we do. Our homes are built with integrity by people of integrity.”
Watson previously worked 11 years in pharmaceutical sales with yearly top performer awards, served in the U.S. military, is an Eagle Scout, as well as earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and master’s degree in business administration. He serves on Walker’s Board of Aldermen and recently won the District 7 seat on the Livingston Parish Council.
In business, Watson says his success comes from his continual search for ways to do business better. He also personalized service by providing online updates so customers can check the progress of a project. He says he also applies the same approach to Watson Storage Center that he founded six years ago.
Company sales have grown from $425,000 in their first year in business to a projected $3.3 million this year.
Watson’s philosophy for success: “By having a personal commitment to do what is right and being fair, you will find that you will garner the respect and dedication of those around you and they will do anything they can to help you succeed.”
