Tract in Prairieville sells, opens up for mixed-use development

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

A .75-acre outparcel at the corner of Airline Highway and Swamp Road in Prairieville has been sold for $650,000 to a local KFC franchisee. That clears the way for development of a 3.75-acre tract behind the fast-food restaurant. Collier Thornton of THR Real Estate, who brokered the KFC sale and is developing the land behind the restaurant, along with Mike Hollingsworth, says the plan is to put up a mixed-use commercial/retail area. "We've been assembling buyers and tenants and now that the last outparcel sold, we can do a nice retail project," Thornton says. Businesses will be able to lease or buy space in the development, construction on the development should start in the next two to three months.
