News roundup: PC Magazine lists most common passwords; Terrebonne Parish one of most remote areas of U.S.; Plain Jane joins new company

Monday, May 7, 2007

Aren't we clever? PC Magazine is set to list the 10 most commonly used online passwords. No. 1 is "password" while No. 2 is "123456" and No. 3 is "qwerty." Read the rest of the list here. Long way from the roads: A study recently released by the U.S. Geological Survey found that Terrebonne Parish is one of the most remote areas in the country, based on the amount of wild and road-free land, reports The Denver Post. Other remote areas include Hinsdale County, Colo., and the southeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. Not so plain Jane: Plain Jane, a line of hand-painted ceramics made by local artist Jane Chapman, has been acquired by Oak Patch Gifts. The move will put Plain Jane items in regional gift markets as well as in markets in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York.
