Why do you do what you do?

I was brought up hunting and fishing and in the sporting goods business and cannot imagine doing anything any more fun.

What is your greatest professional accomplishment?

Removing our company from the retail trade and moving successfully into the wholesale trade.

What was your first job?

Selling cokes on Stanford Ave, in the late '40s when it was still a gravel road.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

Be nice to everyone, business and social.

Who do you most admire in the local business community and why?

The late Chuck McCoy for turning around and modernizing the banking business in Louisiana and making it possible for many people to start or expand their businesses. (Including me)

If you could have any job other than your own, what would it be?

Being a professional hunting guide.

What is the greatest personal or professional obstacle you've overcome?

Filling the giant shoes of my father. Not an obstacle, but a challenge!

If you started over, what would you do differently?

Get an MBA ASAP after undergraduate degree.

What is your prescription for life?

Making time for your family and friends.

Einstein, Walter Isaacson

If not hunting or fishing or watching the Tigers, working in my yard.

The help of my family and employees that allows me time to do my civic and charitable work.

I would like to see 2 or 3 at-large seats on the city council.

What is your greatest hope for Baton Rouge?

That we will continue our economic and population growth and at the same time improve the infrastructure of the city.

What is your greatest fear for Baton Rouge?

Nothing, if we elect honest and forward thinking individuals to public office and downplay partisan politics.
