Two retailers confirmed for The Village at Willow Grove, more on the way
Developer Richard Carmouche has signed leases with several retail tenants for The Village at Willow Grove, the commercial portion of his rapidly growing traditional neighborhood development on Perkins Road between Bluebonnet Boulevard and Siegen Lane. Femme Fatale, a women's boutique, will open a second Baton Rouge location in a 2,000-square-foot space in building two of The Village, which is not yet under construction. The store has an existing location at 16645 Highland Road. Adjacent to the boutique, Fresh Kitchen will move into a 600-square-foot space in the same building. The upstart business will sell healthful, freshly prepared meals. Its main location is getting ready to open on Corporate Boulevard. "We've turned away a considerable number of people that wanted space here, because we are highly protective of what is going into the retail development," says Ty Harvison of NAI/Latter & Blum, who is handling commercial leasing for The Village at Willow Grove. "Everybody wants something nice that fits. This is a concept very similar to what we see at River Ranch [in Lafayette] or along Highway 30A [in south Walton Beach, Florida]." Harvison says a home interior/gift shop has also signed a lease for space in the building but is not yet ready to announce plans. Meanwhile, a fourth retailer—a toy store that will be new to this market—has signed a letter of intent to lease space. The second building of The Village at Willow Grove should be completed by early 2015. A second location of Bistro Byronz is set to open later this summer in the first building at The Village, which is nearly complete. —Stephanie Riegel
