Jarreau developing new shopping center on Coursey
Chesapeake, Virginia-based Dollar Tree has a signed a lease for a 10,000-square-foot space to be developed by Donnie Jarreau in a new shopping center on Coursey Boulevard. The center, which will be called City Center Plaza, will be located next to the Home Depot at 10300 Coursey Blvd., and will total about 26,000 square feet. Jarreau is trying to attract a national tenant for the remaining 16,000-square-foot space, and, given the shopping center's proximity to the recently opened Costco on Airline Highway, he is optimistic there will be plenty of demand. "No question Costco will help that entire area," he says. "Costco looked at this market for 10 years and that is where they decided to build, so that tells you something about the level of commercial activity in that area." City Center Plaza is being developed on a vacant tract. Construction will begin immediately and should be completed by October, Jarreau says. There are currently eight Dollar Tree stores in Baton Rouge, according to the company’s website. —Stephanie Riegel
