Executive named to LSU board
Oil-and-gas executive Jack E. Lawton Jr. of Sulphur was sworn in today as a member of the LSU Board of Supervisors, a system spokesman says. Lawton will fill the unexpired term of the late Ben Mount, who died in December. Lawton attended LSU and played cornerback in 1976 and 1977 under then-coach Charlie McClendon. Lawton is a member of the Charlie McClendon Foundation, which funds scholarships for the children of former LSU Tigers who played under the longtime coach, and a lifetime member of the LSU Foundation.
