Creative Louisiana's first meeting set for Wednesday
The first meeting of Creative Louisiana, a monthly lecture series and brainstorming session for creative types, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Baton Rouge Gallery, founder Wendy Overton says. Kelli Scott Kelley, an associate professor of painting at LSU, will give a 20-minute talk, which will be followed by a discussion that will end by 10 a.m. "The idea is it will help you think about what you have to do that day, that week or that month, and it will give you a fresh new perspective and a chance to be inspired," Overton says. "My goal is this will facilitate a new community of creative types from all walks of life in Baton Rouge." Creative Louisiana is modeled after Creative Mornings, which was founded by New York designer Tina Roth Eisenberg and has since spread to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, London and Zurich. Eisenberg encouraged Overton to form the group locally. Creative Louisiana is sponsored by LSU Continuing Education, where Overton is assistant executive director, as well as a number of local businesses. Registration is encouraged, but not required.
